Vicki
Stoner began her career with the State of Georgia,
working for the Murray County Department of Family and
Children Services on July 1, 1980. After 8 ˝ years
there, she transferred to the Whitfield County DFACS
Office, where she has been until her most recent
transfer to the Department of Labor, Division of
Vocational Rehabilitation Services on March 1, 2007. As
a Rehabilitation Employment Specialist, she is
responsible for locating jobs to be filled by clients
with disabilities. She is excited to be in this
position, working with individuals who truly want to go
to work. She has also been recently named to the
Advisory Council for the Roosevelt Warm Springs
Institute for Rehabilitation.
Vickie enjoys music, traveling, and visits with family
and friends. Since all her family lives back north in
Michigan, many of those trips involve times to spend
with her four-year old twin nephews and eight-year old
niece. Her parents still travel south for the winter,
so that brings more visits and occasion to head to the
beach to see them.
As a
transplanted Yankee, Vicki is truly glad that she
remained in Georgia, now for almost thirty years. What
she loves about Murray County is that even though it has
grown, and made many strides and developments in the
past three decades, it still has a very small town
feeling about it. She has said that she has always been
made to feel right at home, and is a large part of why
she stayed. “Yankee by birth, Southerner by choice!”
